Summary of the Differences Between Each Riedel Range...
Sommeliers
The ultimate expression for wine in hand blown lead crystal. Weight, balance and elegance are achieved in thin yet strong glass. Some shapes are unique to the range, others are simply beautiful renditions of glass from the machine made ranges.
Grape
Single piece pulled stem lead crystal machine made to appear hand made. Beautiful balance weight and elegance. The wines are measurable softer and fuller compared to the Vinum range. The pointed base of the glass traps sediment.
Vinum
Machine made glass from 3 pieces. Leaded glass for everyday use each glass the ideal shape for different grape varieties.
Vinum Extreme
Designed for powerful single variety new world wines. Machine made diamond shaped glass made from 3 pieces.
Vitis
Vitis from Riedel is an extension of the famous Vinum Extreme range.
These diamond shaped glasses offer a large surface area for the wine allowing
the powerful wines from the new world to be fully expressed. Vitis is
the tallest lead crystal range of glasses from Riedel, each stem being
pulled from 1 piece of glass giving a beautiful fluid appearance.
‘O’
The Vinum range bowls in non-lead stemless glass. True to the wine style and ideal for informal sedentary dining, sitting on the grass and where storage is a premium. A very economical introduction to Riedel.
Tyrol
This range progresses on from the now famous and much copied 'O' range,
delivering leaded glass for weight and brilliance along with a tactile
and stabilising solid 'domed' base. True to the grape variety, each glass in
this range is affordable, easy to store with no stem to break and an original
design.
Ouverture
Non-lead glasses designed as all round wine glasses whilst not true to a wine style. Quality and finish of glass suitable to its £5 price point.
